Glazebrook A Goer For Avalon Raceway Speedcar Title
Gavin White posted Thursday February 4, 2010.

With less than two weeks before Avalon Raceway is set to host the 2010 Australian Speedcar Title preparations are well underway for what promises to be one of the most hotly contested titles in the events history. A star studded field has nominated including the defending winner and 2010 Chili Bowl winner Kevin Swindell while the Australian contingent is a literal who’s who of Speedcar racing.

“There is obviously a lot of attention on the American’s and of course the New Zealand drivers that are coming to contest the title but I think the Australian drivers have a very good chance at taking the win in this years title,” said Avalon Raceway spokesman Jeff Drew.

With reigning champion Swindell and compatriot Davey Ray joined by New Zealand’s Brad Mosen the international drivers are well represented yet the cream of Australian Speedcar racing will be well prepared to ensure the title stays in its host country for the first time since 2005.

“All the best Australian drivers are committed to coming including gun West Australian Scott Glazebrook who due to an oversight was not included in the original list. I can tell you that he will certainly be in the mix and has shown tremendous speed at the Avalon already this summer and the Brendan Fox owned car that he drives is one of the best presented outfits in the field,” said Drew.

Glazebrook has won numerous West Australian Speedcar Drivers championships while the 27-year-old is also a multiple winner of the Perth Motorplex Track Championship. Teaming with Sydney’s Brendan Fox has seen Glazebrook contracted to the Speedcar Super Series for the first time where he has shown he can run with the best in the business. Glazebrook and Team Fox Racing were in fact the first nomination received for the national title to be held at Avalon Raceway on February 19th and 20th.

Drew also said that almost every contracted Speedcar Super Series driver would contest the national title and while former Victorian Mark Brown has been very dominant over the past three years at Avalon there has been not one driver stand out so far this season.

“Sydney’s Mark Brown is also coming off a win here at Avalon during the Beasley Memorial in December while West Australian Keith Giles also tasted victory in January winning the Australian Speedcar Grand Prix. American Davey Ray won the Speedcar Super Series round here in November so there is no clear cut favourite in my book but the Aussies have as good a shot as any.”
