Welcome to the
Australian Speedway Museum and Hall of Fame (est
2000).
Let’s start at the
beginning.
The idea of a Museum
and Hall of Fame was from a trip to the U S A by
Jeff Drew, Ian Drew and Mark Haby who visited the
Knoxville Museum and Hall Of Fame. From that visit
Mark Ian and Jeff decided something needed to be
done.
Once back began the
first discussions with 4 others as to forming a
Museum and Hall of Fame.
The name above was
chosen and the body became an incorporated body.
The Australian
Speedway Museum and Hall of Fame is a “not for
profit organization” where any money made is put
back into the organization to maintain the museum.
It was decided that
the building was to be housed at Avalon Raceway
(Geelong).
We must thank Corio
Park for the generous donation of land where the
building now sits.
The building is fully
owned by the Australian Speedway Museum and Hall
of Fame
Stage 1.
The building has been
completed.
Stage 2.
Will commence in the
early part of 2008, with the addition to the
building to connect with the Raceway Canteen. This
will encompass a Foyer and entry and exit doors to
the Museum
Stage 3.
The addition of
toilet & shower facilities attached to the building.
Our timeline at
present gives us a completion date of mid 2009.
Other projects like
building extensions to make more floor space will be
put in place as we move forward in the next 12 to 18
months. This work would be planned for 2010.
We hope this gives you
an insight as to what we are doing now and for the
future.
Plans will be on
display during the coming Speedway season.
At the start of the
coming season membership packages will be available,
if you are interested please contact our office via
